Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End (PlayStation 4) Review
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the latest entry in maybe one of the most successful video game franchises in history. The game is a PS4 exclusive, which means that you do need to get the console if you want to play the game as it can’t be found anywhere else. When it comes to the game’s story, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End does pick off right after Uncharted 3 where Nathan Drake has retired and he doesn’t want to go treasure hunting any more. But, as always, life tends to bring the exact opposite of what you might want. He encounters his long lost brother and obviously things do go sideways.
When it comes to gameplay, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is pretty similar to the other games in the series. There’s a huge amount of action, plenty of climbing and platforming and the usual puzzles. The game does seem to have more of an emphasis on sneaking, but the animations are better so you don’t have to deal with any clunky movement any more.
You have a grappling hook that makes it very easy to go from one place to another. Then you also have a very large game world which is actually 10 times larger when compared to the previous entry in the series. On top of that, the AI is much better this time around, since enemies collaborate with one another, they have tactics and they can take you down without that much of a hassle.
Graphically, the PS4 transition makes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End a delight to play. The game world is visually impressive and the character design is amazing. The animations are great, the details are off the charts for just about anything in the game world and the entire experience is very exciting all the time.
They did add a dialog system although it seems to be in vain as it doesn’t affect the story at all. However, I did like the fact that they do provide you with cutscenes that seamlessly transition into gameplay so you never feel a letdown as you play. It’s a very good experience for sure and the fact that they added things like visual filters, new modes like bullet time and so on does show the great capabilities offered by the game to begin with.
There is multiplayer and it’s filled with great modes. You get to play as one of the many characters in the series, you have multiple maps from the game to play on and you can easily unlock new weapons and items. They also added some power-ups that boost the player ability which is nice.
Should you get Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End? Yes, this game is a must have for any PS4 owner and it’s a delight to play the games offered here to begin with. If you are a fan of good games and particularly like the action-adventure genre you will find Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End to be a clear winner. Just try it out as you will enjoy it for sure!
